Contemporary Singing Teacher
I’ve been in the music industry as a vocal teacher for over 10 years, and work with artists across all contemporary genres including R’n’B, pop, rock, musical theatre and metal. I’m also one of the only vocal teachers in New South Wales teaching vocal effects.
Currently I am a contemporary voice lecturer at JMC Academy in Ultimo, Sydney, and President of the Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing (ANATS) – NSW Chapter.
Previously I was Head Vocal Teacher and Studio Director at Elite Vocal Academy, a contemporary music studio I founded in 2010.
In 2020 I was awarded the Dr. Iain C. Medget Churchill Fellowship to investigate vocal technique and care of the transgender singing voice in the applied voice studio. I’m also an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre.
My tertiary training began at the Canberra School of Music under a two-year vocal scholarship with jazz great Gery Scott. I completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts: Performance (majoring in Music and Drama) at the University of Wollongong and it was there I developed an interest in vocal health.
Following that degree I undertook and now hold an Anatomy and Physiology Diploma, Estill Level 1 & 2 and Music Teachers NSW Accreditation. I am currently completing my Masters in Speech Pathology and am a certified Vocal Health First Aider.
Students of mine have featured as leads in professional musical theatre productions of Priscilla Queen of the Desert (Australia Tour) and Billy Elliot (Australia & North America Tour).
I have also guided students in successful EP releases and tours.
